CIEH
The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) is the pre-eminent awarding body for workplace qualifications in health and safety, food safety and environmental protection. CIEH qualifications are highly regarded by businesses throughout the UK and recognised by employees as the benchmark in safety training.
Their range of courses is based against the new levels set by the QCA for Vocationally Related Qualifications (VRQs)The different levels are:
LEVEL 1 is aimed at those new to the workplace who require a simple overview of a subject before starting work or as part of an induction programme.
Examples are school leavers taking their first job or new immigrants with limited language skills.
LEVEL 2 is aimed at those in the workplace who participate in activities related to the subject area (equating to the present foundation or 'basic' qualification).
Examples are shop floor employees or front line staff employees in production or services.
LEVEL 3 is aimed at those in the workplace who participate in activities related to the subject area and who also have a related supervisory role (equating to the present intermediate qualification).
Examples are team leaders, supervisors and junior managers.
